Fuzzy Optimal Control and Its Application to Nonlinear Benchmark Problem

In this paper, we talk about the application of fuzzy control techniques to the nonlinear systems. We propose a new scheme of fuzzy optimal control techniques in which T-S (Takagi-Sugeno) fuzzy model is used for the modeling. We adopt the PDC (parallel distributed control) as our controller which is also modeled by fuzzy rules. Both the discrete system case and the continuous system case are discussed. The controller design procedure is to solve a set of LMI (linear matrix inequality) conditions. With the eecient LMI solving algorithms, this can be done eeciently. It is also shown in this paper that various control performance speciication can be incorporated into this framework. Finally, this fuzzy optimal control scheme is applied to TORA system, a benchmark problem in nonlinear control.
